FAQ
Do E-Day beta rewards carry to launch?
What did the E-Day beta include?
Did pre-order players get beta early access?
The Gears of War: E-Day Open Beta ran in August 2026 — the first public hands-on with Horde Siege and Versus. Here is what it gave testers and what carries to launch.
What did the E-Day beta include?
The Open Beta ran across two August weekends — an early-access weekend (August 6–10, originally planned as Versus-only) and an open weekend (August 13–17) — with both weekends ultimately offering Horde Siege and Versus after a last-minute official reversal.
- Horde Siege — the 12-player PvE mode on Golden Quarter.
- Versus — 4v4 PvP on a subset of the six launch maps.
- Split install on Xbox — each mode was a separate ~39 GB package (~62 GB total), so testers could grab just the half they wanted.
What carries over to launch?
Confirmed carry-over is cosmetic rewards — unlocks earned during the beta weekends stay on your account when the game releases October 6. The announced reward list:
| Reward | How it was earned |
|---|---|
| Blast Damage Mags character skin | Reach level 20 in the beta |
| Crush the Bug weapon skin | Extract 8 times at Infantry rank or higher |
| Crush the Bug banner | 25 headshots |
| Crush the Bug medal | 10 revives |
| Crush the Bug icon | 5 chainsaw executions |
| Open Beta medal + “First in the Fight” title | Participation rewards |
That means beta time was a head start on the customization collection, not on competitive standing.
Did pre-orders get beta access?
Yes — pre-ordering any edition granted early access to the Open Beta while it was live, alongside the Exfil Dom skin and Exfil weapon skin set that arrive at launch. The edition breakdown is in the editions and pre-order bonuses guide.
Where does beta progress go now?
Your earned cosmetics attach to the account you played on — they are waiting at launch regardless of platform (cross-platform progression follows your account via the standard linking). How the progression economy works in the release build is covered in the multiplayer progression guide, and the modes themselves are in the Horde Siege and Versus guides.
